NHS foundation trust website

This NHS Trust supports a population of just under a million people and employs nearly 4,000 staff. They provide services from more than 50 locations, including home visits and in the wider community. They undertook a merger a couple of years prior to starting this project and retained their website, which was not reflecting where the organisation is now. We worked with them to reimagine their digital presence, suggesting content to enhance the experience and the design/development of the website.

Services included:

User interviews, stakeholder workshops, user journeys, content mapping, wireframing, content mapping, prototyping, design, *development

Architecture

The Information Architecture for the website was defined after running remote experience workshops and card sorting exercises with multiple audience groups. There were key paint points that were discovered in their current website; users were often confronted with too many choices and the service search area suffered from content discoverability issues. This resulted in a poor user experience and we worked closely with the client to simplify and improve the functionality for filtering services, curate friendly user journeys and define the content hierarchy.

website design

Through appropriate use of their new NHS brand identity, we developed a unique visual identity conveying the Trust’s values. We developed a component-based design so that pages can be arranged in a number of ways to serve both simple and complex functions.
